Project „Deep Geothermal Energy - acceptance and communication of an innovative technology (TIGER)“ started!

In March 2012 the project TIGER started, funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. The projects aim is to identify and collect perceived advantages and disadvantages or acceptance inhibiting and promoting factors of geothermal systems and to develop sustainable and effective communications strategies that will help to provide a barrier-free communication between providers, affected citizens and institutions.

The interdisciplinary project combines core competencies from engineering sciences, humanities and social science as well as from corporate partners. The contribution of the Chair of textlinguistics and technical communication focuses on the analysis of public discourses on deep geothermal energy in the media (Text and Web Mining) with the aim of identifying acceptance-relevant group- and location-related key topics (acceptance factor) regarding the application of geothermal systems and to develop an adequate communication concept.
